CAVIAR AND DEPRESSION

If you read a couple of articles about caviar, no doubt you heard about the effects it leaves on the body and soul. No, to tell you the truth, caviar is truly a wonderful delight. If you haven't tried, i'm not sure what you're waiting for.

Caviar is the energy packed pearl of the ocean that has the ability to seduce you while it melts in your mouth. You could say that caviar are fish eggs and you would be 100% correct. Fish eggs called roe are treated with salt and packed in tins or jars. The thing with fish eggs, and eggs in general is that they have to contain all the nutrients to propel new life.

Don’t worry, you are not eating little fingerlings as the eggs are not fertilized. Little fish are not going to hatch in your stomach. In natural conditions a lot of these eggs (like a lot) end up being eaten by other fish or marine animals.

Trust me, caviar is amazing but this is not the reason I am writing. Throughout history caviar was sought out by wealthy Greeks, Persian nobles, Russian tsars, Mongol khans and later on European aristocracy. Turns out that caviar has many tricks in its sleeve. It can be an aphrodisiac. It is highly nutritional. Its taste is amazing. It can prolong life. What else?

Caviar can elevate the symptoms of depression.

This was long time speculated but in a medical study from 1999. Doctor Andrew Stoll conducted an experiment to try to prove that omega-3 fatty acids can elevate the symptoms of depression. Half of the patients were given a placebo and the other half 10 grams of fish oil every day. Four months after the experiment almost half of the placebo group relapsed into depression and only 2 out of 15 patients from the other group relapsed.

The strongest nutrient found in caviar is fish oil highly packed with omega-3 fatty acids. One table spoon of caviar contains over 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids. Fish food in general contain high amounts of omega-3. Some fish like salmon have even larger portions.

Caviar from the salmon, known as red caviar or salmon roe has the most of these omega-3 fatty acids.

Dr. Stoll is currently conducting another trial to try to confirm his results from 1999.

Many people that suffer from depression or bipolar disorder confirm that after taking caviar for some time they do feel a little better, as if the heavy gray curtain lifts for a moment.

Just to clear one thing, and this is important. Caviar is not a cure for depression as it only elevates the symptoms.

Having said all that there is, I recommend trying caviar. At least you get to enjoy in its profound taste.
